COMPOSTABLES, GARDEN & LAWN CLEAN-UP

WHEN:
UNTIL MONDAY, MAY 22, 2023

DETAILS:
If you have yard waste to dispose of, please place all compostable yard waste out into alleys by May 22nd. The Town will start to clear the alleys on the north end of town, moving south. Please separate branches, and do not put anything in any kind of bags. Once the Town goes through your alley, they will not return. Anything placed after May 22nd may be subject to unsightly notices.

During this time, residents of the Town of Fort Macleod & the MD of Willow Creek No. 26 may take their accumulated household refuse, E-waste & hazardous materials for disposal FREE of charge at the arena parking lot (225-21st St). Details for each stream are as follows:

HOUSEHOLD CLEAN-UP

Are you ready for some spring cleaning? The Town of Fort Macleod is holding their annual Spring Household Clean-up on Friday, June 9th and Saturday, June 10th. This is a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted items and do some decluttering.

The event will take place at the Arena Parking Lot located at 225 21st Street. On Friday, June 9th, the event runs from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, while on Saturday, June 10th, it runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

During the event, the town will be offering free dumping for 1-3 items or bags per household for town residents. A voucher will be required, so make sure to call the Town Office to get yours. 

Acceptable household waste materials include items that would normally be included in the waste stream, and large items such as furniture, and mattresses. 

Unacceptable household waste materials: Loose material, construction waste, gravel, dirt, recyclable materials, liquid materials, hazardous waste (paint, oil, tires) or electronic waste. For information on how to dispose of hazardous waste and electronic waste, see below. 

Fort Macleod residents- If you have excess or bulk garbage to dispose of, you can take 1-3 truck or trailer loads for FREE to the Willow Creek Regional Landfill with a voucher. To get your free voucher, contact the Town Office. The landfill is open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm both days.

******Please note that to take advantage of the Spring Household Clean-up, a voucher from the Town Office will be required. Call Shantelle at 403-553-4425 to claim yours.******

HAZARDOUS WASTE CLEAN-UP

DETAILS:
If you have hazardous waste to dispose of, the Spring Hazardous Waste Clean-up will take place on Friday, June 9th, at the Arena Parking Lot from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The following items will be accepted:

  • Reactive/Explosive: Aerosols
  • Corrosive: Rust removers, alkaline cleaning fluids, and old wet batteries
  • Flammable: Painting wastes (no empty tins), degreasers, and other solvents
  • Toxic/Poison: Chemical containers showing the toxic symbol

ELECTRONIC WASTE CLEAN-UP

DETAILS:
The Spring Electronic Round-Up will also take place on Friday, June 9th, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Arena Parking Lot. The 4H Club is partnering with the town to host this e-waste clean-up. Household electronic waste, such as small appliances, audio and visual equipment, telecom products, power tools, electronic toys, video game systems, televisions, computers, and printers will be accepted free of charge. However, please note that no other materials, refrigerants, large appliances, or liquids will be accepted.

PARADE OF GARAGE SALES

Don't forget to register your garage sale for the Parade of Garage Sales, which takes place on Friday, June 9th, through Sunday, June 11th, 2023. To register, call Mackenzie at 403-835-3202 or email mackenzie.hengerer@fortmacleod.com. The registration deadline is Friday, June 2nd.
