Demolitions in Fort Macleod

The Town of Fort Macleod is preparing for the demolition of two buildings in our community. The Ice Cream Shop at 221-25th Street and the Airport Rec Hall at 141 Primrose Avenue. These buildings are currently in a state of disrepair, and the following steps are being taken to ensure a responsible and transparent process:

Hazardous Materials Studies (including asbestos and lead) have been initiated — reports are expected by mid-May.
The Town has engaged in initial discussions with Administration, Council, and the Built Heritage Advisory Board (BHAB).
BHAB will be completing a full pictorial documentation of both buildings prior to any demolition work.
Photos and a location map will be provided to the public for full transparency.

We are committed to maintaining safety, respecting our built heritage, and keeping our community informed throughout this process.
