Shakespeare’s Macbeth coming to the Empress Theatre stage
July 12, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$10 – $20
The dark and bloody drama, Macbeth, is coming to the Empress Theatre on Friday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m.
The Lethbridge Shakespeare Performance Society, at the Empress for the third summer in a row, is bringing all the gritty murder, guilt and revenge Shakespeare packed into one of his most famous tragedies.
Macbeth, a brave Scottish general, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Encouraged by his ambitious wife, and by the three mysterious witches, Macbeth murders the King of Scotland and seizes the throne. This foul deed entangles Macbeth in a web of treachery, deceit and more murders.
Director Monique Danielle has set Macbeth in the castles and haunted heaths of medieval Scotland. Audiences will be captivated by several energetic sword fights!
Despite the murderous activities, this performance of Macbeth is suitable for all ages.
This is the eighth season for Lethbridge Shakespeare Performance Society, a non-profit group
whose cast and creative team are drawn from both community theatre and from the University of Lethbridge’s theatre department.
Reserve your seats ($20 each, $10 for 17 and under) through the Empress website at MacleodEmpress.com or by calling the Box Office at 403-553-4404.
