Pencil drawing of Fort Macleod by R.B.Nevitt, Aug. 14, 1875

Description:
Dr. Richard Barrington Nevitt was Assistant Surgeon of the North West Mounted Police from 1874 to 1878. He was among those who joined the NWMP at its inception and marched west to the Oldman River valley where they established Fort Macleod.

This drawing shows the stockade constructed of 12' cottonwood logs with 3' sunk into the earth. The Union Jack (flag of the United Kingdom) is flying in the centre of the compound.
