Address: Box 1360, Fort Macleod, Alberta, T0L 0Z0
Mission: The Youth Justice Committee was formed in June of 1995. This committee was formed to offer an alternative way of dealing with mostly first time, sometimes second, young offenders; to hopefully change their attitudes and behaviour towards others and the community as a whole. Also, to possibly help them to stay out of the courts and justice system.
Activities: The function and objective of this committee is not only to do our part in trying to make this community a better and safer place to live but also to try to help the young offender and their parents to understand why this behaviour took place and how every action has a ripple effect not only on family, friends but most importantly on the community as a whole and what changes need to be made to affect a change of attitude toward all. The victim (if there is only one person involved) or the community as a whole has to be compensated in some way for their actions. We try to convey to them that they are not bad people but its their actions and attitudes that are unacceptable and need change.
